VOUS ÊTES PHOTOGRAPHE ET VOUS COLLABOREZ AVEC LE MONDE SCIENTIFIQUE?
La Villa Pérochon — CACP, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the SWISS LIFE FOUNDATION, and ADAGP are committed to supporting contemporary photography by establishing the Photography & Sciences Prize, in partnership with media partners Fisheye and Sciences et Avenir – La Recherche. This annual prize is open to all professional photographers on the French scene (French creators or artists working and/or residing in France, regardless of their nationality) who are developing an authorial photographic practice. A grant of 6,000 euros will help the winning photographer complete a photographic series currently in progress that combines photography (in all its forms) and the sciences (across all disciplines), in France and/or abroad.
The winning project will be presented as an exhibition at La Villa Pérochon CACP in the fall of 2027. The winner will receive exhibition rights for this show in the amount of 1,000 euros, and production costs will be covered directly by La Villa Pérochon CACP in the amount of 2,000 euros (production will take place in Villa Pérochon’s laboratories or through an external service provider).
Following the first exhibition, La Villa Pérochon will do everything in its power, in collaboration with the winner, to facilitate the touring of the existing exhibition among cultural institutions, including, for example, those in the Diagonal network, a national network bringing together organizations dedicated to the production and exhibition of contemporary photography in France (the cost of round-trip transportation of the works and the winner’s compensation will be covered by the host organization).
The winner will also benefit from a dedicated media campaign with media partners. The presentation of the complete series will also be the subject of a roundtable discussion with a screening at ADAGP in Paris (the winner’s attendance is required).
Practical information
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
- This award is open to all professional photographers in the French photography scene (French creators or artists working and/or residing in France, regardless of their nationality) who are developing a distinctive artistic vision in photography.
- The proposed photo series must not have previously won an award in a contest, competition, or festival (though it may have previously received a grant or been part of an Artist Residency).
- The jury will select only a photographic series that is currently in progress—not yet completed—and that fully integrates photography and science. All photographic styles are eligible, and all scientific disciplines may be explored.
- For logistical reasons, only individual applications are accepted.

The application package must include:
- A biography and a resume
- A statement of intent describing the plan to complete the ongoing series. This statement must provide specific details regarding the scientific disciplines, research laboratories, and scientists and academics to be involved. It is not required to establish contact with these entities prior to submitting the application.
- A portfolio showcasing several previous series (3 recommended series)
