Are we alone (in the universe)?

From 18 April
To 31 May

Extraterrestrial docu-drama

In this original story combining Art & Science, a photographer and two scientists question the very existence of possible extraterrestrial life, its various manifestations and its major impact on human societies. This innovative, multidisciplinary project challenges our certainties and questions the very definition of life on Earth and elsewhere in the universe. How do we deal with an otherness that is beyond our understanding?
In this exhibition, the culmination of their joint exploration, the authors have chosen to imagine a poetic scenario based on the model of an investigation that brings together the very latest discoveries in cosmology, planetology, exobiology
and paleontology. Through the sight and sound of archival documents, exhibits, artifacts, scientific sites, portraits and testimonials, they challenge our perception of possible extraterrestrial life and its hypothetical traces.
The first chapter deals with the discovery of a strange creature that cannot reasonably have come from our planet. The second links this discovery to the many recorded sightings of UAPs (Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena), and to portraits of observers and their testimonies. The third chapter explores the history of astronomical research and reports on human attempts to establish contact through the cosmos and communicate with a possible other form of intelligence.
By freely hybridizing reality and fiction, this exhibition blurs the lines to offer a very personal interpretation of the question: are we alone in the universe?

This work was developed in collaboration with scientists Roland Lehoucq, astrophysicist, and Jean-Sébastien Steyer, paleontologist.
